The Beginnings of a new League

Starting with 6 (human) coaches and 16 teams, the JCL was the new league on the block and was comprised entirely of a group of friends. These individuals drafted from the 28 legal teams, 1 team from each conference. jcmistaT chose the Titans and Packers. These teams would go on to be in the first JCL Tecmobowl but only one would claim victory.

Conference Champion in the Making

The Packers started out the season strong with two victories by at least a touchdown or more. Their loss against the Eagles in week 3 by only a field goal would be their only loss of the season. They ended week 5 with a crushing 20 - 0 shutout over the Giants. They had one of the top performing Qbs in the JCL and their defense was't bad either.

While the Titans also won their first two games, they went on to lose two games before the end of the first half of the season. Their greatest strength really showed in their game against the Steelers showed how strong their defense could be by holding them at 0 points. Their losses to the Patriots and Chargers did not keep them down for long. As one of the best defensive teams in the JCL, every team feared a game against the Titans.

The Seeds are Sown

After their first loss, the Packers continued to utilize quarterback Aaron Rodgers as well as a new play, the reverse to Jennings. Often accumulating 20 yards in a single carry, the combination of Jennings' running game and Rodgers' long passes brought the Packers to a 7 game winning streak including another shut out against the Colts. Rodgers passed with amazing accuracy all season and while he gave up plenty of interceptions, he always made the passes that counted.

The Titans defense continued to pick up steam throughout the second half of the season holding each opposing team to less than 14 points except for their final loss against the Dolphins in week 7. They ended the season as one of the best defensive teams in the JCL while also accumulating the 4th most points. While they didn't have the most sacks in the JCL, their defensive team allowed the least passing yards and often came ahead with key sacks and pass blocks.

Where it all Counts

The Packers had finished their season 9 - 1 to become the NFC champions. Their first round in the playoffs was against the underdogs of the NFC, the Cowboys. They claimed an easy victory winning 28 - 10 over the Cowboys. To win round 2, they had to defeat one of the top passing teams in the JCL, the Panthers. When these teams last met, their game ended with the Packers winning by a field goal in overtime after the Panthers ran out of time in the 4th quarter and this game was just as close with the Packers winning 13 - 10.

Though the Titans had 3 losses, they were still the most feared defense in the defense heavy AFC. The Titans dominated the Steelers for the 2nd time during round 1 winning 33 - 7. In round 2, they were set to play against the Dolphins who had defeated them earlier in the season with a field goal. The Titans' defense overcame the Dolphins holding them at 7 points and making them conference champions.

The Big Game

It was a game against the 2nd best performing team and the 2nd seed AFC team. The Packers offense versus the Titans defense. During the post season, the Packers had kept up their impressive passing game while the Titans' Haynesworth had gotten more sacks than he had during regular season in just 2 games. As the teams clashed for the first 3 quarters, the Packers gave up 2 fumbles and a safety to the Titans defense who held them at 0 points until the last quarter.

While the Packers couldn't put any points on the board, the Titans had yet to score a touchdown but put 3 consecutive field goals past the posts. In the last quarter, The Packers held the Titans in their own field then blocked their punt which the Titans' Lee returned for a defensive touchdown. Now, 11 - 7, the Packers were on their way to stealing the game from the Titans.

With just minutes left in the game, the Titans fumbled the ball to the Packers giving them one last chance for victory. Fate worked against the Packers this game after they lost their 3rd fumble to the Titans. As time expired, the Titans had won the game by only 4 points. Haynesworth was given the Tecmobowl MVP award for holding the Packers, along with Vanden Bosch, to just 7 points.
